Interviews with Yvonne Parent

Description:

In this performance, Yvonne Parent conducted a series of interviews with artists in the style of a television talk show, presented to a live studio audience in the Grand Luxe Hall. During the program, Parent interviewed guests, took live phone and video calls, and adhered to strict time limitations.

Between segments, Western Front commercials were broadcast, promoting its programming and publications. Led by Iain Macanulty, the house band, The Turtlenecks provided experimental interludes, performing compositions by La Monte Young and John Cage.

Parent interviewed Kate Craig, Antonia Coker, Chris Creighton-Kelly, Gerry Gilbert, Myk Gordon, Brice MacNeil and Eric Metcalfe; spoke by phone with Vancouver-based artist Kati Campbell and Josef Strau of Friesenwall 120 in Cologne; and corresponded with the Kootenay School of Writing via slowscan.Video documentation is available upon request.
