Dance to the Music: Les Paradis Perdus and Sound Dancing

Oct 27, 2006
Field:

Performance

Location:

Grand Luxe Hall / EDAM studio, Western Front

Time:

8:00 p.m.

Description:

This double bill of performances was the second event of the Dance to the Music series.

Les Paradis Perdus was a performance inspired by childhood memories both fond and fearsome. Dancers Bill Coleman and Laurence Lemieux performed in the Grand Luxe Hall to a whimsical live vocal score by Christopher Butterfield, including sound bites and themes from popular television shows.

In Sound Dancing, sound and performance artist Julien Roy teamed his subversive sonic rhythms with the improvised kinetic arts of EDAM (Experimental Dance and Music), featuring dancers Ali Robson and Monica Strehlke, and choreography by Peter Bingham.
