Ecology of Souls
Description:
To celebrate the launch of his CD Ecology of Souls, Kenneth Newby performed a revised version of the score in the Grand Luxe Hall, with accompaniment by Andreas Kahre.
Developed in collaboration with his partner Lorraine Thomson, Ecology of Souls was informed by their research into psychedelics, myth, archetypes, cosmology, and alchemy, as well as their experiences in the ritual worlds of Balinese and Javanese performing arts. The project brought together computer-transformed samples from various sacred traditions, whispered texts, soundscapes, and instrumentation from South Asia and South East Asia.
