Phone Sex is a video production by Doug Brown and Regan Paynter documenting slowscan transmissions of erotic images between Vancouver and Venice. The project was presented as part of Planetary Network, an extended exchange of audio and slowscan video conceived by Roy Ascott and coordinated by Robert Adrian X for the 42nd Venice Biennale. The event launched with a multiday transmission of live audio and slowscan images, displayed in the central exhibition hall in Venice, and continued as a three-month debate on world news and information systems via the I.P. Sharp computer network.
Video documentation is available upon request.
