Description:

Faun Fables is a category-defying musical entity realized by Dawn McCarthy’s vivid imagination come to life in song and theatre. The ensemble at the time included violinist Meredith Yaynos, multi-instrumentalist Kirana Peyton, and an appearance by longtime collaborator Nils Frykdahl of Sleepytime Gorilla Museum.

They performed songs from their various albums during a ninety-minute concert with an intermission. Faun Fables brought a sea of gorgeous elemental nitty gritty; haunting melodies, breath, stomping, and natural theatricality led by the voice, rooted in the physical body. It was a crossroads where ancient ballad, art song, physical theatre, and rock music met. The lyrics spoke to people of all ages about things like rugged housekeeping, street kids, growing old, sleepwalking, and exiled travelers returning home.

Presented with the PuSh International Performing Arts Festival.
