Elizabeth Fischer in Residence

Residency

Description:

Elizabeth Fischer developed her web-based curatorial project, Situ, during a two-part artist residency. She collaborated with Lora McElhinney and Tim McLaughlin in the first part, and with Maija Graham in the second.

They developed new text-based web-works around the theme of loci and dialogue as expressed through the concepts of diary and autobiography. Issues of physical, emotional, and virtual loci were examined. Their works endeavoured to cross boundaries of discipline (i.e. writing, image, sound, software), language, personal experience, and experience with the medium itself (the internet and the web). These works will be developed on-line as diaries and works in progress from April to August 2002.
