Workouts
Beginning Sep 4, 1984
Tuesdays & Saturdays, 10:00 – 11:30 a.m.
Thursday, 5:30 – 7:00 p.m.
Exercise classes for the whole body and mind. Classes began with a gentle warmup and internal focus to prepare the breath, nervous system, spine, joins, muscles, and organs for more strenuous activities. Exercises on audio cassette and private sessions were also available.
Alignment Workshop
Wednesdays, Sept 19 – Dec 5, 1984
5:30 – 7:30 p.m.
A twelve-week course in experiential anatomy to improve alignment and posture in standing, sitting, and moving. Classes covered specific anatomical information and the personal experience of that information through visualization, hands-on work with partners, and movement representing a synthesis of various body-work techniques including Feldenkrais, neuromuscular re-education, and the Body-Mind Centering of Bonnie Bainbridge Cohen.
Yoga
Sep 29 & 30, 1984
1:00 – 5:00 p.m.
A weekend intensive on the relationship of yoga postures to specific organs and energy centres along the spine, and a breathwork study.
Developmental Movement Patterns
Oct 20 & 21, 1985
1:00 – 5:00 p.m.
A weekend intensive that offered an introduction to the basic movement patterns through which we develop from infancy to adulthood, and to the parallel process in the evolution of vertebrate animals.
Movement/Dance
Nov 24 & 25, 1984
1:00 – 5:00 p.m.
A weekend intensive that focused on improvising with the qualities of the different body systems (bones, muscles, organs, glands, nerves, fluids) as a basis for analyzing movement style and developing personal movement quality, technique, and vocabulary.
