Ya-Wen Vivienne Wang at FUSE

Description:

Western Front invited Ya-Wen Vivienne Wang and her ensemble to perform as part of Under Exposure, a presentation of new music at the Vancouver Art Gallery as part of their performance event series, FUSE. 

The ensemble performed Wang’s composition, TYPE A Taipei. This urban symphony was a blend of global pop, Japanese shamisen, Taiwanese opera, Western classical, and authentic soundscapes captured from Taipei street life. Wang conducted eleven musicians improvising with karaoke machines, Asian strings, and other instruments.

This performance was presented in conjunction with Asian Heritage Month.
