Description:

Puppies was a collaborative performance that brought together music, dance, and visual art in tribute to the Hornby Island painter and poet Mary Frazee. Presented over four nights at the Waterfront Theatre on Granville Island, the performance featured the Artsong Trio (vocalist Irène Aebi, harpsichordist Petia Kaufman, and clarinetist Carol Robinson) performing a cycle of nine love songs by Frazee written in collaboration with Steve Lacy. Dancer Lola MacLaughlin choreographed a piece for each song, and performed them against a slideshow of paintings by Joe Plaskett, another close collaborator of Frazee’s.

Presented as part of the Vancouver dance series Making Waves, in partnership with Lola MacLaughlin Dance and the Vancouver Dance Centre.
