Description:

This was the final event of the Dance to the Music series, and was staged at Simon Fraser University’s Burnaby campus and Surrey campus.

Led by Parmela Attariwala (violin) with Shawn Mativetsky (tabla/percussion), The Attar Project is a duo that performs commissioned, improvised, and self-generated works that fuse Western contemporary avant-garde music with South Asian rhythms and movement. Their performance featured live Bharatanatyam classic Indian dance performed by Gitanjali Kolanad as well as Attariwala.

Presented in partnership with Simon Fraser University School for Contemporary Arts.
