In Blue Rider of the Purple Haze, Mike Haslam (a.k.a. Joe Beef) rides a custom stationary bike connected to an electric generator. His movement triggered a recording of Jimi Hendrix’s “Purple Haze” (1967), and a spectacular display of sparks and lighting effects.Haslam performed two works at Western Front this evening. His presentation of Blue Rider of the Purple Haze in the Grand Luxe Hall followed a performance of Sexaphone in EDAM studio.
