Description:

Ophelia / Oscilloscope was a multimedia installation by Carol Sawyer that explored depictions of female hysteria and madness in nineteenth-century theatre and opera, tracing their influence on contemporary representations of women. The work’s audio component was developed during Sawyer’s residency at Western Front.
