Description:

Western Front presented the North American premiere of Kirk Tougas and Tom Shandel’s film Did You Used to Be R.D. Laing?, a videoportrait of Scottish psychiatrist and controversial pioneer of modern psychology, R.D. Laing. In the film, Laing ponders the art of theory, the lies we tell each other in the name of love, patterns within birth and life, and the politics revealed within our restless desire to suppress behaviour and thoughts we find strange or disturbing.

The film was initially screened from January 12 to 14, and brought back for a second run from May 4 to 6.
