Organized by the Powerhouse Gallery, Montréal, the Anti-Nuke Show was an exhibition featuring work by twenty-four Canadian artists working across painting, sculpture, photography, and photomontage to advocate for the relevance of contemporary art to the issues of the arms race. Using forms of artistic production not to depict nuclear war but to address the underlying power dynamics at play, the exhibition aimed to situate the function of art as a means of empowering both artists and viewers to advocate for change.
Over the course of seven months, the Anti-Nuke Show travelled to various Canadian artist-run centres, including Western Front.
