Description:

While in residence at Western Front, Oscar McLennan produced the single-channel video Helicopter Man. Grounded in an autotheoretical monologue by McLennan, the work unfolds as a coming-of-age narrative that weaves reflections on Vancouver with stories of sex, drugs, body image, and family. The text moves through associative leaps that are mirrored visually through the juxtaposition of footage shot in downtown Vancouver and the local mountains with magazine collages, creating humorous, and at times grotesque connections. Narration is performed by Hank Bull, Sgt. Bill Harkema, and Judy Radul.

Video documentation is available upon request.
