Description:

This screening was programmed as part of a multi-day celebration of Art’s Birthday that coincided with the 100th anniversary of radio. Local and international artists used sound, video, robotics, poetry, images, and performance to celebrate and deconstruct utopian ideas of network, radio, and places.

Petroléo Mexico (2005) is a twenty-seven minute film directed by Roberto Paci Dalò. It is a visual and sonorous meditation that moves between sweeping wide views of Mexico City and faces that, without warning, unconsciously emerge from the crowd to become protagonists. A game of correspondence is created between images from today and their extraordinary likeness to the faces of Mexican antiquity in a place where myth is prevalent.
