Jeremy Isao Speier in Residence

May 1 — Jul 1, 2006
Field:

Residency

Description:

While in residence, Jeremy Isao Speier continued his research and development of a work involving hand-made electronic circuits. Speier’s kinetic works are made using motors, neons, ready-mades, photos, wood, and various materials.

The project built on a previous work that used a small motor with text that read “Made in Japan.” For this new series, the artist in turn manufactured objects using obsolete and self-made technological forms. He used fragmented narratives and images within each piece to create a body of work that is tied together by concept and visual models.

He presented an informal talk on Sep 7, 2006 as part of SWARM: Annual Festival of Artist-Run Culture.
