South of the Border was an exhibition of six Seattle-based artists developed as an exchange with 911 Media Arts Center, Seattle. The exhibition was presented as part of the Artists Call Against US Intervention in Central America—an artist-led activist campaign and solidarity network founded in New York City in 1983.
At Western Front, South of the Border included a cassette recording compiling President Ronald Reagan’s most blunderful public addresses, photographs, a mural titled “The Deer at the End of the World,” and newspaper collages about American imperialism in the Philippines, among other works.
Exhibition programming included a screening event with work by John Greyson, Eric Schultz, and Mary Anne Yanulis; and Nick Bertoni and Jules Backus presented as part of the artist-led campaign Artists Call Against US Intervention in Central America.
