Giving Voice to the Female Nude

Skai Fowler presented a longer rendition of Venus, Cupid, Time and Folly, which was presented at Western Front in February 1989 as part of the performance series Ideophrenia. This new revision, titled Giving Voice to the Female Nude, incorporated the use of video as well as adaptations from Fowler’s film script “The Naked Looking.”
The work focused on the subject of the female nude from the model’s perspective using historical Western paintings, with an emphasis on the roles of the viewer and the viewer.
