This exhibition by Arni Haraldsson featured two photographic series. The first depicted garments arranged to recall the displays of fashion advertising and fine art photography. By presenting dated garments that would be considered “out of season,” Haraldsson was interested in exploring the use value assigned to clothing. By diverting immediacy of judgement into a reverent, studied consideration of the garments, viewers were invited to consider the clothes within the broader systems of history and poetics.
The second body of work focused on Vancouver as an expanding megalopolis, with a focus on the peripheries between urban, suburban, and industrial environments.
