Milk on the Dining Room Floor is a twenty-minute video by Cornelia Wyngaarden produced while in residence at Western Front. Set against a pastoral backdrop reminiscent of en plein air traditions, a conversation between three people unfolds about what it would take to bring the Aurora Borealis to more densely populated equatorial latitudes. This speculative dialogue is set against footage from a dairy farm and a recurring motif of milk being poured into a glass. Juxtaposing romantic visions of agricultural production with subatomic anxieties, the film serves as a meditation on the reasonable causes for technophobia. The video is structured as a non-narrative visual poem complete with digital special effects and a piano soundtrack by Tomas Wong.
Milk on the Dining Room Floor was produced with special thanks to David Gibbons, Chick Rice, and Avalon Dairies.
