Scrivener’s Monthly: Michael Taussig Drawing as Talking About Pleasant Tree Farms as a Mode of Thought and Beauty in the Age of Agri-terrorism

Mar 28, 2013
Field:

Talk

Location:

Grand Luxe Hall, Western Front

Time:

8:00 p.m.

Description:

Scrivener’s Monthly hosted an evening with Michael Taussig, who presented on fieldwork methodologies and agricultural activism in South America. His forty-five-minute presentation focused on the social and environmental geographies of peasant tree farms in Colombia, and incorporated hand-drawn diagrams using an overhead projector. His talk was followed by a question and answer session.

Scrivener’s Monthly was a series of public presentations that explored the space between material practices and spoken words. Set alongside exhibitions at Western Front, this experiment in “not publishing” involved readings, performances, and other articulations.

Video documentation of this event is available upon request.
