Feb 12, 2015
Field:

Screening, Reading

Location:

Grand Luxe Hall, Western Front

Time:

8:00 p.m.

Description:

Presented as part of Scrivener’s Monthly, Casey Wei screened her film Kingsgate Mall Happenings (2015), which compiles documentation from a project organized at Kingsgate Mall while in residence at Western Front.

Wei’s screening was accompanied by a reading by Michael Turner that featured texts from his poetry collection Kingsway (1995) alongside work by Roy Kiyooka, George Bowering, Judith Copithorne, Dorothy Lusk, Maxine Gadd, and Judy Radul.

Scrivener’s Monthly was a series of public presentations that explored the space between material practices and spoken words. Set alongside exhibitions at Western Front, this experiment in “not publishing” involved readings, performances, and other articulations.

Video documentation of this event is available upon request.
