Field:

Reading

Location:

Grand Luxe Hall, Western Front

Time:

8:00 p.m.

Description:

Hosted by Colin Browne, this iteration of Scrivener’s Monthly featured an evening with writer George Bowering. The event was presented in partnership with The Capilano Review in conjunction with the launch of their fall 2014 special issue, Bowering’s Books.

Following an introduction by scholar Brook Houglum, the evening featured a screening of archival footage of Bowering’s past readings and a sound piece by Deanna Fong, concluding with a reading by Bowering.

Scrivener’s Monthly was a series of public presentations that explored the space between material practices and spoken words. Set alongside exhibitions at Western Front, this experiment in “not publishing” involved readings, performances, and other articulations.

Video documentation of this event is available upon request.
