Location:

Grand Luxe Hall, Western Front

Time:

Description:

Presented as part of Scrivener’s Monthly, poet Layli Long Soldier read from her forthcoming book Whereas (2017). Written in response to the Congressional Resolution of Apology to Native Americans signed by Barack Obama in 2009, Long Soldier’s project addresses the language and delivery of the apology. Following the forty-five minute reading, Long Soldier was joined by curator cheyanne turions for a conversation about her work.

Scrivener’s Monthly was a series of public presentations that explored the space between material practices and spoken words. Set alongside exhibitions at Western Front, this experiment in “not publishing” involved readings, performances, and other articulations.
