Description:

Fake Jazz Festival was a five-day concert series celebrating underground experimental noise music. Curated by Anju Singh, Jeremy Van Wyck, and Bill Batt, the festival took place in the Grand Luxe Hall and at offsite venues Lick and La Casa Del Artista. Fake Jazz Festival also ran in tandem with Noise not Noise—Western Front’s two-day symposium exploring the changing role of noise in culture.

The final day of Fake Jazz began at Western Front with the workshop The Empty Vessel Makes the Loudest Sound. As a complement to Noise Not Noise this workshop introduced participants to a heightened awareness of silence, sound, and sounding.

Concurrently, a pancake breakfast was hosted offsite at La Casa Del Artista, followed by performances from Haunted Beard, Stamina Mantis, Twin Crystals, Black Mage, Diadem, Coingutter, and Ejaculation Death Rattle later in the evening.

Presented with support from the Government of Canada, SOCAN Foundation, CiTR Discorder, Long & McQuade, and Best Western Uptown Hotel.
