Description:

Hollywood Archaeology was an exhibition by Lowell Darling that assembled artifacts culled from the back alleys and trash cans of production studios around Los Angeles, United States. A central piece of the exhibition was a marble sign salvaged from the studio of the American documentary series This Is Your Life. In Darling’s eponymously titled single-channel video produced by Kate Craig 1976, he presents a twenty-minute slide-show of found 35mm photographs. A screening of Darling and Ilene Segalove’s film The Cauliflower Alley Tapes (1976) took place in the Grand Luxe Hall in conjunction with the exhibition.

While in Vancouver on the occasion of Hollywood Archaeology, Darling was also featured on Hank Bull and Patrick Ready’s HP Radio Show where he discussed his ongoing practice of performing acupuncture treatments on cities to help heal issues of addiction, crime, and pollution.
