Vanalyne Green’s one-woman performance Trick or Drink confronted her experience as the child of addicts and her own struggles with disordered eating. Drawing a parallel between these two illnesses, Green structured her monologue around epistolary texts and confessional prose that mirrored the format and language of an Alcoholics Anonymous meeting. Reflecting on feelings of shame, desire, and relapse, Green's work sought to confront the intergenerational impact of addiction and its manifestation in her own body and habits.
