Gary Snyder

Bio:

Gary Snyder is a poet, essayist, and translator based in California, United States. A noted member of the Beat Generation and the San Francisco Renaissance, Snyder’s writing blends physical reality and precise observations of nature with inner insight received through the practice of Zen Buddhism. With an emphasis on metaphysics and a celebration of the natural order, Snyder’s work across poetry and prose aims at instilling an ecological consciousness in his audience.

In 1975, Snyder received the Pulitzer Prize for poetry.
