Kent Monkman

Bio:

Kent Monkman is an interdisciplinary Cree visual artist based in New York City, United States and Toronto, Canada. He is a member of Fisher River Cree Nation in Treaty 5 Territory (Manitoba). Monkman is known for his interventions into Western European and American art history, exploring themes of colonization, sexuality, loss, and resilience across painting, film/video, performance, and installation.
