Junie Désil

Bio:

Junie Désil is a poet based on the traditional territories of the Homalco, Tla'amin, and Klahoose Nations. Born to immigrant (Haitian) parents on the traditional territories of the Kanien’kehá:ka Nation on the island known as Tiohtià:ke (Montréal, Canada), Désil was raised on Treaty 1 Territory (Winnipeg, Canada). Her work has explored themes of collective displacement, and Black and Haitian sovereignty.
