Nicolas Collins is an electronic music composer, sound artist, and writer based in Berlin, Germany; and Chicago, United States. In the 1980s, Collins began experimenting with the use of microcomputers in live performance, and made use of DIY electronic circuity, radio, found sound material, and homebuilt instruments. He is a professor of sound at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, and previously held curatorial positions at MoMa PS1, New York, and STEIM, Amsterdam; and was the editor-in-chief of Leonardo Music Journal.
