Don Foresta is an American research artist and theorist whose pioneering work operates at the intersection of media art, information technology, and science. He has been a leading advocate for using the network as a creative medium, exploring its potential for artistic collaboration and knowledge exchange. In 1986, as a commissioner for the 42nd Venice Biennale, Foresta created one of the first computer networks linking artists across borders—an early experiment in what would become networked art practice.
Over the decades, Foresta has held key research and academic positions across Europe, and his work has played a foundational role in shaping how digital networks are understood and used in contemporary art.
